Mission:
The Milk Run
Location: Tristan's Room
Timeline: Day 2 - Newhall to Hera
Jacob woke early, as he usually did, and took care of his morning routine. A long session of yoga, some strength training, and a shower, followed by a bit of meditation. Once that was all done he'd dressed for the day, a pair of loose slacks, some loafers, and a tailored blue-grey sweater that hugged his body just right completed the outfit and left him feeling his best. He knew he'd need that, as a sort of boost to his confidence, after the horrible way he'd handled things the previous evening.
Tristan's shoes in hand he'd left his shuttle, and made his way to the crew quarters. He passed most of the people aboard on his way, going about their business, and it had been easy to find out where Tristan had been given to sleep. Walking up he found the door firmly shut. Reaching up he gave the metal a quick few raps and then waited to see if Tristan would even answer.
It took a few minutes but eventually the door opened and Tristan peered out. "Oh, hi," he said, quietly, as he tried to smooth his hair out. It was obvious the young man had just woken up and dressed in a hurry to answer the door. His wrinkled shirt barely pulled down over his stomach as his pants sagged off his hips because they weren't zipped or buttoned.
Jacob took in Tristan's disheveled appearance, and once again felt a bit foolish. "I am very sorry if I woke you..." he said, his voice a bit anxious. "It's just that you ran out last night before I could stop you, and you left these behind. I thought you might need them..." he added, more unsure of himself with every word. He'd never really felt unsure of himself before, not since starting his training as a Companion, and it was a supremely uncomfortable feeling. But then, he'd also never been in a situation like this, on a ship of strangers, off to do who knows what and seeing places he'd probably never even heard of. He knew, instinctively, that he needed to cut himself some slack, but he just couldn't seem to make that thought into reality just yet.
"Oh, thanks," Tristan said. He reached for the shoes but wasn't able to take them before his pants started to fall. He barely grabbed a beltloop before he caught them, but while they didn't end up around his ankles, he was sure he showed off more than he meant to. "I'm sorry, I'm not usually this..." He gestured to himself.
Jacob's eyes jerked down, following the other man's hand, but then, realizing what was happening immediately jerked back up, not wishing to appear as if he was trying to take peeks that weren't offered. He chuckled lightly, "This what? Normal? I did wake you up, after all," he replied, giving him a friendly smile.
Tristan returned the smile as he took the shoes. "Would you like to come in?" he asked, setting the shoes down beside the door. It seemed like a silly question. Surely someone so glamorous as this Companion wouldn't want to spend time in such a cramped space. And there wasn't anywhere to sit other than the bed. But he didn't want to be rude, especially after the kind offer Jacob made yesterday.
Jacob does want to go in, he wants to very much. He wants a chance to right the wrong of the previous evening, but he can tell the younger man is still anxious, and he can tell that he doesn't believe it's a place someone like Jacob would want to be in. He ponders it for a little bit, and then shakes his head, not because he's right, he's been in far less glamorous places before, but because he wants to make sure he doesn't cause him any more stress.
"I don't want to intrude, not when I've just woken you up. But how about this, I can make you something to eat, and you can join me in the common area and we can have breakfast? Maybe continue talking like we were last night?" he offered, hoping he'd take it as a kind gesture, and not him trying to push him towards anything.
"I'd like that," Tristan said, his smile growing bigger. "Let me change real quick, I don't want to go out looking like a savage," he said. Without waiting for a response, Tristan started to undress until he was standing there in just his underwear.
"I really do want to pay you back for the cup," Tristan said as he bent over and pulled a new shirt from his backpack. "I just feel awful."
Jacob was caught off-guard, not expecting Tristan to just strip down like that, and didn't have time to avert his gaze. Going wide-eyed in surprise as he got a full view of him, he blinked and turned his head, feeling a blush creep up his cheeks. "You have nothing to feel awful for. You can consider having breakfast with me as repayment if you really want to," he replied.
Tristan looked up, shirt in hand, when he saw the look on Jacob's face. "What's wrong?" he asked, taking a step towards him. "Are you ok?"
"Oh, I'm fine," Jacob replied with a light chuckle. "Just trying to resist the urge to come inside..." he added, his eyes traveling the length of his barely clothed body.
"I told you you could," Tristan said, standing aside to let the man in. "I don't mind."
Jacob stepped over the threshold, his mind already wondering what the hell he was doing, but unable to override his feet. "It's pretty nice in here. Bigger than I thought it would be," he said, looking around, catching small glimpses of Tristan as he did so.
Tristan gave the man a confused look. "My bathroom back home is bigger than this room," he said. "Though I appreciate you trying to put a positive spin on it." Tristan closed the door and walked further in. "I'm sorry I don't have anywhere to sit, but feel free to hop up here." Tristan moved to his bed and bent over, pulling the sheets and blanket smooth, trying to make it look pleasant.
Jacob smiled, he'd assumed Tristan would know he was being nice but hadn't expected him to be quite so honest. It was refreshing. In high society, where he normally operated it would never have even been acknowledged in the first place. "Well, I tried..." he said, moving to sink down on the bed, and leaning back against the bulkhead behind him. "Comfortable bed, though," he added.
Tristan smiled, "I like it, actually," he said, standing in front of the man. As he stood there, he saw Jacob's eyes traveling away from his face, downward. He followed the man's eyes until he realized he was still standing there with nothing on but his underwear.
"I'm so sorry," he said, suddenly getting embarrassed. He took the shirt in his hand and held it over his pelvis, trying to hide himself from beautiful man that was sitting on his bed.
Jacob struggled not to laugh and held up his hand. "Trust me, you have nothing to apologize for," he said. "Besides, it's not like you are naked," he added with a grin and a wink, hoping to at least make the guy grin, if not outright laugh.
Tristan giggled, his arms lowering slightly. “I just don’t want you to be uncomfortable,” he said.
That almost made Jacob burst out laughing, and he caught it at the last second and just smiled, "I'm not uncomfortable at all. The question is, are you uncomfortable?" he asked.
As Tristan’s hands dropped to his sides, he just nodded his head as he climbed up onto the bed next to the Companion.
"That's better," Jacob replied. It was good to see the guy letting his guard down and just getting comfortable. "Never worry about making me uncomfortable, okay?"
“Why not?” Tristan asked as he settled onto the bed a little closer to the man than he probably should have. He leaned on the man’s shoulder as a bare leg pressed against his thigh.
"Because it's pretty much impossible," Jacob said. He enjoyed the feeling of the other man so close, their arms and legs touching, and he liked that he was finally feeling comfortable around him. Glancing over he looked at him, and smiled, "I'm glad you are more comfortable today," he said, letting his finger brush gently on Tristan's leg.
Tristan's hand follow'd Jacob's as his fingers grazed his knuckles. He traced an invisible line from his digits, over the top of his hand to his wrist, then back under the palm until the two were holding hands. "Impossible?" he asked as he looked up into his bright green eyes.
Jacob nodded, subtly. "Yep, impossible," he replied, feeling Tristan's skin under his fingertip, and then feeling their hands slip together as they sat looking into each other's eyes.
He wasn't quite sure what was propelling him. His whole life, Tristan tended to act before he thought. It was considered one of his biggest flaws and it always got him in trouble. But for once, Tristan didn't feel regret as he moved his body closer to the Companion sitting on his bed. As their lips touched, his eyes slid closed as the warmth of the man's mouth seemed to wash over him.
Jacob relaxed into the kiss with practiced ease, his hand coming up to cup the side of Tristan's neck. He tasted slightly sweet, and he felt more of his anxiety melt away as he leaned closer to him. With his eyes closed, he couldn't see his face, but he could feel that there was the slightest uptilt to his lips, meaning he was smiling.
The kiss deepened as Tristan came close, closer than he thought he could get. If he could guess, he was probably sitting in the man's lap at this point. But his mind wasn't thinking about that right now. All he could do was enjoy this moment, his first kiss. He wanted this to last forever, for this moment to never end. And there was a song playing in his mind that really made this moment in time the most romantic he'd ever known. His hands moved up Jacob's chest, slowly finding their way under his sweater as his fingers touched the taught skin of his abs. He let out a slight groan as his fingers started moving around his sides, trying to pull him closer.
Leaning forward, so that Tristan's hands could explore more freely under the close fit material of his sweater, Jacob moaned lightly. He was a little surprised at the intensity, especially since Tristan had somehow almost fluidly moved into his lap without him even realizing it, but it was clear that he needed this experience in some way. His own hands came to rest on Tristan's hips, and he enjoyed the warm feeling of his skin under his fingers.
As the Companion moved forward, Tristan slipped his hands higher until he had taken the sweater off and tossed it aside. He pressed their chests together as he completely lost himself in the embrace, wrapping his arms around the man's neck. He gently bit the man's lower lip, not quite sure if he would like it or not, but he saw it in a movie once and he always considered it sexual.
"Is this ok?" Tristan asked, taking a break from the kissing to look into Jacob's eyes
Jacob nodded, his mind swirling. "It's amazing..." he said, a little breathlessly, his hands moving to Tristan's back and pulling him tighter to him. Leaning forward he nuzzled his neck, gently kissing along until he reached his ear. "Completely amazing..." he added, whispering it into his ear.
He could tell that this might be one of Tristan's first experiences, but at the same time, every sign he was getting was saying he was ready for it and wanted it. Any signal otherwise would have been an immediate sign that he needed to stop. He was thankful he wasn't getting any such signals as he took in the scent of the man in his arms, and the taste of his skin beneath his lips.
Tristan laid there, his eyes closed as he took in this moment, this experience, that would last him a lifetime. His first time with another person and he was lucky it was someone as amazing and beautiful as Jacob.
Jacob hadn't expected the day to turn out the way it had, certainly. As he lay there, just awakening in the comfortable bed, he smiled gently as he glanced down and saw Tristan curled up next to him, his right hand on his belly, and his head lying on his chest. He couldn't exactly explain why he had been so drawn to the other man, but he was glad they hadn't fought it. Watching him sleep, the gentle whisper of his breath feathering across the fine hairs on his chest, he saw his eyelids begin to flutter, and a few moments later felt his stir, pulling him tighter, and his lips curling up into a smile.
"Hey there, sleepyhead..." he said, bringing his hand up to brush his finger across his cheek.
Tristan covered his mouth as he yawned. "Hi there," he said, softly, looking up into the man's face. "That was..."
Jacob nodded, letting his eyes drift closed as he smiled broadly, "It really was..." he replied. "I hope I didn't wake you," he added, letting his eyes open slightly so he could see Tristan's reaction.
"Not at all," Tristan said. His eyes glanced up at the clock on the wall and his eyes grew wide. "I'm late," he said, pushing himself up. "I'm sorry, I promise I'm not trying to make an excuse."
Jacob glanced at the clock as well, and his eyes went wide as well. "Oh wow... I've been here for almost three hours," Jacob said. "You really are late." Getting up he grabbed his clothes and started pulling them back on, "And I know you aren't making an excuse," he added with a gentle grin. "You definitely didn't seem to want to go anywhere."
"Can we talk later? Maybe have dinner together?" Tristan asked as he pulled his pants up and buckled his belt. "I'd like to see you again if that's ok?"
Pulling his sweater down and smoothing it out Jacob stepped closer and leaned forward for a kiss, and then nodded. "You know where to find me," he said, with a smile, before he stepped back so he could finish getting dressed. "I'll leave you to finish, and head to work," he said, and then running his thumb along Tristan's lips he turned to go.
Tristan bit his lower lip, smiling as the man walked out of his room. While sneaking onto the Fortune's Echo wasn't smart, nor did he have a good plan for his future. But it was definitely worth it.
